DIETMAR Hamann is having second thoughts about joining Wanderers, according to reports in Liverpool.
The midfielder has been strongly tipped to switch from Anfield to the Reebok for several weeks, and all the signs were that it was a done deal.
But now sources on Merseyside believe he has changed his mind and there are thoughts that he wants to finish his career in his native Germany, while interest expressed by Manchester City could also be a factor.
Hamann, who will be 33 in August, has been on Sam Allardyce's shopping list for the last two summers.
The move was scuppered 12 months ago when Liverpool decided to keep him for one more season after an outstanding performance in the Champions League Final.
It finally appeared to be about to happen this summer but the delay in the transfer being completed suggested there may be a complication.
Hamann is currently in Germany for the World Cup and is reported to have decided to put the Bundesliga before the Premiership, although City's interest could mean he still ends up in the Premiership.
