BOLTON Wanderers showed their support for the United Kingdom’s armed forces when they played host to a group of service men and women at the recent Aston Villa game.
The 188FOUNDATION – a charity set up by the club’s main sponsors 188BET – donated 250 tickets to service personnel as part of the Tickets for Troops initiative which offers support for the continued efforts of the nation’s forces who are serving around the world. Tickets for Troops is an independent charity dedicated to offering free tickets for major cultural, sporting and musical events to soldiers, sailors and airmen while on leave.
All serving military personnel, as well as any veterans who have been medically discharged through injury since 2001, qualify to benefit from the initiative.
188BET chief executive, Andy Scott, said: “We are delighted to be able to support this fantastic charity as 188FOUNDATION was set up to support organisations such as this. Soldiers, sailors and airmen work bravely and tirelessly all year round and it is great to be able to give them the chance to enjoy some time off and watch Premier League football.”
Tickets for Troops executive director, Jonathan Mervis, whose son Lieutenant Paul Mervis of the 2nd Battalion The Rifles, was killed in action in Afghanistan in June, said: “We are delighted that Tickets for Troops appears to have caught a wave of support across the country. Having been set up only last year, we are extremely grateful that 188FOUNDATION has shown its support in donating 250 Bolton Wanderers match tickets to our cause.”
188FOUNDATION was created last year by Cube Limited, who are also the parent company of 188BET, the leading online gaming and entertainment company based on the Isle of Man.
