OWEN Coyle still hopes to sign Real Madrid striker Rodrigo Moreno.

The Spain Under-19 international will play for his country against France in the European Championship final this afternoon, after which he is expected to make a decision on his future.

Benfica want him as part of the £20.3million deal that saw Argentina ace Angel di Maria move to the Bernabeu, but Wanderers are also believed to have met Real’s valuation for the 19-year-old.

Coyle gave up hope of signing the youngster earlier this month.

But there now appears to be a slim hope the teenager could opt to join his former team-mate Marcos Alonso at the Reebok next season.

“The initial conversation we had with Madrid was that he would be involved in the deal with Alonso,” said Coyle. “Then we found he was supposed to be going to Benfica as part of the Di Maria deal. But I don’t think that has happened yet.

“He’s a very talented player and we’re always looking to bring that type to the club. We’re not any further forward with it, there’s nothing concrete to say, but I can say he’s one of a number of players we’re interested in.”

Nicky Hunt’s move to Bristol City is close to being sealed after the full-back travelled to the South West yesterday afternoon. Steve Coppell has agreed terms with the former England U21 international, who passed a medical earlier this week.

Swindon Town boss Danny Wilson has asked Coyle about loaning strikers Tope Obadeyi and Danny Ward again.

He said: “They know how we looked after their players before”
