KELLY Tidy missed the cut in the Ricoh British Women’s Open yesterday despite bouncing back from her first round disaster to record a brilliant one over par 73 in the second round.
The Harwood golfer finished the opening round with a triple bogey after she twice went out of bounds at the final hole to finish a topsy-turvy round on six over.
But she responded in splendid fashion over her home course at Royal Birkdale.
She dopped shots at the second and third holes before three successive birdies took her to one under for the day at the turn.
The back nine proved a stern test again but Tidy battled on despite dropping a total of three shots at the 13th and 14th as a birdie at the 16th gave her a two-round total of 151.
Despite lining up with the world’s leading professionals, the 18-year-old looked at home and her seven over for the two rounds placed her in the middle of the field.
But it was not quite enough to see her through the cut.
