West Ham United 1 Wanderers 3

JOHAN Elmander's brace and a Matthew Upson own goal sealed Wanderers’ first win of the season against West Ham at Upton Park.

Upson headed into his own net three minutes after the break before the Swede struck either side of Mark Nolan’s penalty as Bolton recorded a seventh successive victory against the Hammers.

But Owen Coyle’s side had Jussi Jaaskelainen to thank after the goalkeeper pulled off a string of superb saves in the first half.

The big Finn kept out Carlton Cole’s poor penalty after the striker had gone over in the area following a push from Gretar Steinsson on 32 minutes.

Jaaskelainen denied Cole again moments later as he looked to make amends for his woeful spot-kick.

The Wanderers shot-stopper made an even better stop on the stroke of half time when he flicked Kieron Dyer’s shot onto the post.

Bolton took a shock lead on 48 minutes when Elmander flicked on Jaaskelainen’s long clearance and Upson, under pressure from Kevin Davies, turned the ball into his own net.

The visitors struck again on 68 minutes when Elmander headed Chung-Yong Lee’s pin-point cross past Robert Green.

Referee Andre Marriner handed West Ham a lifeline when he harshly adjudged Gary Cahill had pushed Scott Parker in the penalty area and Noble converted.

But the rejuvenated Elmander ensured Wanderers continued their hoodoo over West Ham when he drilled home with six minutes left.
