Wanderers are refusing to be drawn on Fulham’s reported interest in striker David Ngog.

The Cottagers are believed to be lining up a £3 million bid for the 23-year-old after missing out on Huddersfield hitman Jordan Rhodes, with boss Martin Jol keen to add to his attacking department amid rumours of a possible exit for USA international Clint Dempsey.

It is understood, however, no formal approach has been made for the man Wanderers signed from Liverpool 12 months ago, despite reports to the contrary. And boss Owen Coyle is reluctant to sell after dismissing links with a move for Ngog to St Etienne last month which would take him back to France.

Ngog managed just four goals in 27 appearances last season after a knee injury hampered the first half of his campaign. And he has yet to play a full 90 minutes so far in pre-season with a back problem preventing him from training .

Coyle is hoping Ngog will be fit for Saturday’s npower Championship opener at Burnley and is unlikely to entertain any sale in the meantime, particularly at a price below the £4 million the Whites forked out a year ago.

Jol, meanwhile, looks to have missed out on another man familiar to Reebok regulars after Nigel Reo-Coker reportedly rebuffed an offer to join the West Londoners.

The 28-year-old is a free agent after quitting Wanderers this summer following the activation in a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if the Whites were relegated.

The former England Under-21 international has also been linked with German sides Hamburg and Wolfsburg this summer but is yet to join a new club.

Another ex-Wanderer, Tuncay, is currently interesting Brighton after being released from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.

The Turkish midfielder spent last season on loan at the Reebok Stadium , scoring once in 22 appearances.

Elsewhere, former Whites forward El-Hadji Diouf has joined Championship rivals Leeds United on non-contract terms ahead of the new season.
