Wanderers midfielder Chris Eagles hopes his impressive form will spread to the rest of the squad when the international break is over.

The Whites have had a shaky start to life back in the Championship with just one win from their four games so far.

But Eagles has bucked the trend and netted three times in those matches to scoop the club’s 188BET Player of the Month award for August. He is naturally delighted to win the fans’ vote and hopeful he can stay in form.

But he also understands their frustration with a return of just four points from 12 and an early Capital One Cup exit at Crawley Town.

However, the ex-Manchester United winger is sure a win against Watford next weekend can turn around fortunes at the Reebok Stadium .

Eagles said: “It’s been difficult for the fans because they have been frustrated with the start that we have made.

“But in this league, one win can change things and that can soon roll into two or three good results.

“Before you know it, you move straight up the league.

“We know we have to win matches and although some of the lads have been away on international duty, we have been in training this week working hard.

“I’m confident that we can come out after the international break, get a good result against Watford and move forward.”

Eagles netted back-to-back home goals against Derby County and Nottingham Forest before making it three in three league games in the defeat at Hull City last weekend.

It’s early-season form that saw him romp to the monthly award with 73 per cent of the overall online poll.

The fans clearly appreciate his efforts so far and he hopes those supporters recognise he is fully committed to the Wanderers cause this season.

The 27-year-old added: “I’d like to thank everyone who voted and hopefully they have seen that it means a lot to me to be here and play for Bolton Wanderers.

“I’d like to win a few more of these awards by the end of the season.”
