Wanderers manager Owen Coyle will have his attacking options boosted when the Whites return to Championship action against Watford on Saturday.

Frenchman David Ngog is back in full training and knocking on the door for a first-team return while young frontman Marvin Sordell has had two England Under-21 outings – the latest as an unused substitute against Norway at Chesterfield last night – since the Whites last played at Hull 10 days ago.

Sordell has been playing catch-up after missing the majority of pre-season due to his Olympic exploits with Team GB.

And Coyle will be grateful to have both step up their fitness as the Whites prepare for three games in eight days at home to the Hornets and then away at Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday.

Wanderers, who have not been involved in a goalless league draw for 19 games, have netted five goals in four league matches so far but three of those have come from midfield man Chris Eagles.

The other two have gone to skipper Kevin Davies and Sordell – though young Arsenal loanee Benik Afobe did register in the Capital One Cup defeat at Crawley Town.

If the Whites are to kick-start their league campaign at the weekend, they will need their frontmen to be firing on all cylinders and Ngog’s return is a welcome boost.

He found the net in his first 90 minutes of the season, helping the development squad to a 2-0 win at West Ham last week.

And after declaring his determination to get goals at second-tier level at the weekend, the 23-year-old is keen to be available for the Hornets clash.

This will be the Frenchman's first experience of Championship football and, like his team-mates at the Reebok Stadium , he is under no illusions it will be tough.

“No game is easy but we know we have to try and get results," said Ngog.

“My target, like everyone’s, is to get promoted.

“We have the potential to do it.

“There are a few other teams involved as well but our squad is as good as anyone’s.”

Coyle will be keeping his fingers crossed for an injury-free night of full internationals tonight with four of his squad likely to be in action.

Chung-Yong Lee has travelled with South Korea to Uzbekistan, while Sam Ricketts is set to represent Wales in their Group A World Cup qualifier in Serbia.

Adam Bogdan hope to help Hungary shut out the Netherlands in their Budapest clash while Keith Andrews is eligible after suspension for the Republic of Ireland’s friendly with an Oman team at Fulham’s Craven Cottage.
