SPRING View bowed out of the Bolton Association on a high after winning the league with a nail-biting four-wicket victory at title rivals Adlington .

The championship game was clinched in the penultimate over as the Wigan side steadied themselves following a late wobble to reach their modest target.

The victory sealed the title for Spring View by eight points over Daisy Hill, who finished tied with Adlington but claimed second by virtue of winning one game more.

Adlington batted first and were only able to post 115 after losing their final three wickets in the penultimate over of their innings. Pro Tom Foster made 31, but Salman Nazar proved a constant thorn in their side, reaching 100 wickets for the season as he finished on 5-45.

Spring View fell to 23-3 before Lewis Matthews (45) led the recovery, taking the score up to 95-3 before a mini-collapse saw them fall to 106-6.

Majid Majeed took 5-22 from his 23 overs, but Spring View held firm to clinch the crown on a dramatic afternoon.

Adlington’s defeat opened the door for Daisy Hill to claim second at home to Elton.

John Ashworth had a decent knock of 47 for the visitors as Elton eventually struggled to 162, with Amjid Khan claiming 5-81, backed up by Jake Wilde, who took 2-2 in the last over.

In reply, Mark Wood hit a quick 35 and a 37 not out from Khan helped the home side past their target.

Walshaw rose above Edgworth into fourth after beating their rivals by 137 runs.

Darren Foy was the star for Walshaw, scoring 50 as they posted 173. The Watkinsons looked to have given the home side a decent total to aim at though, with Liam taking 6-85 and his dad, Mike, claiming 3-19.

But Foy put in a devastating spell of bowling, claiming 6-12 as the home side fell to 36 all out. No Edgworth batsman got double figures.

Flixton’s overseas player – West Indian bowler Alton Beckford – took 5-35 to help skittle Little Hulton for 120.

The home side reached 124-2, with Luke Perry ending on 69 not out.

Blackrod finished their season in some style, enjoying a comfortable 102-run victory at Golborne.

Club pro Tushendra De Zoysa hit 94 in Blackrod’s total of 214-7. Chris Sanderson (59) also helped himself to a half-century, while David Dempster was the pick of the bowlers with 6-42.

Golborne were bowled out for 112. A fine bowling display from Atherton’s Matt Gallagher (4-27) and Jamie Foster (4-37) saw Darcy Lever all out for 72.

Dale Tyrer (42no) helped Atherton claim the eight-wicket win.

Standish were always playing catch-up after Astley & Tyldesley opener Jamie Macdougal racked up an impressive 98. The visitors finished on 212-7. Sam Healy was the best of the Standish bowlers with 5-82.

The home side closed on 184-8. Usman Kushnood top scored for Standish with 41, while Jordan O’Malley took 4-41.
