This live event has finished
9:43pm
Match report should be up on the web soon. Won't make great reading. I'll also put up some reaction and answer a few q's on my way back tonight. Tweet me @MarcIles.
9:41pm
It's all over.... Birmingham City 2 Wanderers 1
9:41pm
Mills scurries one off the line. King should have scored. Through on goal.
9:39pm
@MarcIles these are dire dark days for the wanderers...
— @Yonmons 18 September 2012
9:39pm
@MarcIles Too many goals being conceded this season. Pressure back on Coyle!
— @wardybwfc 18 September 2012
9:38pm
Alonso just brought a fine save out of Butland. Thought he'd grabbed an equaliser then.
9:37pm
Four minutes added time.
9:34pm
Alonso heads over the top from Eagles cross. Time fast running out now.
9:31pm
Another late half chance for Mark Davies. Another easy save for Butland.
9:31pm
@marciles Coyle has looked like a broken man when things haven't gone so well this season.. Any different tonight?
— @AndySoccer76 18 September 2012
9:28pm
Redmond has just forced Bogdan into a brilliant tip over the bar. That would have been game, set and match.
9:28pm
No sign of Whites getting back into this.
9:18pm
Redmond on for Burke. Now this guy really can shift...
9:16pm
Coyle going mental on the touchline over a throw in, given Bolton's way by the linesman, that has been over-ruled by the ref....
9:13pm
@MarcIles where is Ream?
— @phoward1974 18 September 2012
9:13pm
@MarcIles I'm here as my tower fm is playing songs this is keeping me updated
— @VicMeddick 18 September 2012
9:12pm
Butland makes a fine save at Afobe's feet. Nearly scored. Burke then flashes a shot across goal at the other end.
9:06pm
Double sub: Ngog off, Afobe on. Petrov on, Chung-Yong off.
9:05pm
@MarcIles has Spearing going off left us vulnerable at the back?
— @JKbwfc 18 September 2012
9:04pm
Attendance: 14,693
9:02pm
@MarcIles Second half sounds just like the same period at Hull. I would love to know what OC says to them at half-time!
— @TomCraven2 18 September 2012
9:02pm
Sad to see Caddis leaving on a stretcher. Looks like a shoulder injury. Curtis Davies on.
9:01pm
@MarcIles #BWFC should petition the league to play with no halftime ... bad things seem to happen after the break
— @dougchapinjr 18 September 2012
9:01pm
@MarcIles Looking like 0 points from 9 away from home...Not good enough.
— @DanSumner85 18 September 2012
8:57pm
Lita has just got round Bogdan and drilled into the side netting. It's coming apart quickly here...
8:57pm
Going back to the pen, hard to say whether the award was correct because it happened well off the ball.
8:56pm
Burke smashes a shot beaten away by Bogdan.
8:54pm
King with the pen... GOAL! Sends Bogdan the wrong way.
8:54pm
Penalty to Birmingham. Alonso's foul on King. Linesman gave the foul
8:52pm
Fahey on for Mullins for the Blues.
8:51pm
Players back out on the pitch. If I do go quiet this half, it's because I'm writing my match report!
8:50pm
Some quality soup served up by Birmingham at half time. Think it was golden vegetable.
8:46pm
And I've just been backed up by several people in the press box... it wasn't top corner, and it wasn't 35yds....
8:45pm
Just been told that Spearing's injury is a calf strain. Will try and update later on as to how long it could rule him out for.
8:43pm
@MarcIles should of gone to specsavers!!
— @stujanson 18 September 2012
8:40pm
He's just described it as a "pretty even game" and I wouldn't argue with that. Great to see you Fab.
8:39pm
Fab's voice isn't being picked up well by this sound system. Was always a nightmare to transcribe him after interviews!
8:38pm
Looking very smart and sporting his thick-rimmed specs, think he's going to be interviewed.
8:37pm
Fabrice Muamba being welcomed on to the pitch.
8:35pm
@MarcIles Right before half time as well! They should be bouncing out after the break! COYW1!
— @bwfc_85 18 September 2012
8:35pm
That's half-time. 1-1.
8:33pm
Chung-Yong booked for a foul on Elliott.
8:32pm
That was deserved. Eagles has been in good touch, and that free kick was nothing short of stunning. Curled it round the wall from 25 yards out into the bottom corner. Superb.
8:31pm
GOAL! Eagles equalises with a brilliant free kick.
8:30pm
Now Caldwell gets a booking for a blatant trip on Ngog. Looks like this half time team talk is going to have to be a belter...
8:27pm
Mark Davies booked for a high challenge on Burke.
8:25pm
Eagles clips a cross in for Ngog, who was unmarked eight yards out. He headed straight into the hands of Butland. Terrible miss.
8:24pm
@MarcIles was it another cross we conceded from?? I honestly think we need 2 new full backs!!
— @stujanson 18 September 2012
8:24pm
Lovely ball from SKD with the outside of his foot to find Ngog. Just as he was about to pull the trigger, Murphy got back to tackle. Blues then broke and Knight was booked for a foul on Lita.
8:22pm
Twelve minutes to go in this half and the Whites are still asking questions. Birmingham do look so dangerous on the break, though.
8:17pm
SKD delivers a deep cross from the left, which so nearly picks out Chung-Yong at the far post.
8:16pm
Elliott plays a ball through for Burke, who sees his effort blocked by Bogdan. Should have scored.
8:15pm
@MarcIles did spearing injury look a bad one?
— @jcook95 18 September 2012
8:13pm
Mark Davies picks up on a flick from SKD and has his shot deflected wide.
8:12pm
@MarcIles could Bolton have defended the goal any better?
— @JKbwfc 18 September 2012
8:06pm
Andrews' fitness really will be tested out now...
8:05pm
Well that came out of the blue. Whites had been on top, but it was a great bit of football down the right side from Burke and Caddis – who recently arrived from Swindon Town.
8:04pm
To make matters worse, Spearing has pulled up. Keith Andrews coming on.
8:03pm
GOAL! Great move from Birmingham down the right. Burke combines with Caddis to cross for Lita to slide in from six yards out.
8:00pm
Ngog and Mark Davies very busy early on. Encouraging start.
8:00pm
@loftylion9 "Lucky" jacket safely in cupboard awaiting its first outing at Hillsbrough. Following tonight via @MarcIles on BN website.
— @TomCraven2 18 September 2012
7:59pm
Burke drives a curling left footed shot from 20 yds. Bogdan holds on well.
7:57pm
Ngog has the ball in the net but it's ruled offside. Lovely ball by Eagles, though.
7:56pm
Butland punches clear with Chung-Yong loitering in the six yard box to pounce on Eagles' cross.
7:55pm
King heads just wide after Caddis swung a great cross in from the right. Blues get a corner - must have come off Mills - but it's cleared.
7:52pm
@MarcIles mavies & cyl got alot prove. Mavies not been convincing all season and dont think he can play 442. What petrov & wylde done wrong?
— @icedgraphics 18 September 2012
7:51pm
@MarcIles Come on you white men!
— @djcolgan 18 September 2012
7:50pm
Eagles gets the first shot off in anger, deflected off Spector to give Butland an easy stop.
7:49pm
Little Fabrice Muamba chant breaks out in the Wanderers fans...
7:47pm
And we're off...
7:45pm
The temperature has dropped somewhat in the last 30 minutes too. Talk about Bluenoses...
7:44pm
ELO belting out from the speakers now as the players come out from the tunnel. I do love a bit of Mr Blue Sky...
7:42pm
They currently fill almost a sixth of the main stand behind the goal, where they famously packed in for that FA Cup quarter final just 18 months ago. Reckon 400 tops.
7:40pm
Five minutes to kick off, and it's safe to say that Wanderers fans haven't yet appeared in their droves to my right.
7:35pm
Links in tonight's squads - Derek Fazackerley, a former Wanderers coach, is now part of Lee Clark's backroom staff.
Wade Elliott is also a former charge of Owen Coyle's at Burnley, and we all know what happened the last time we came across him at Turf Moor in the League Cup...
7:32pm
So the line-ups again...
Birmingham (4-4-2): Butland, Spector, Mullins, Caldwell, Murphy, Burke, Ibanez, Elliott, Caddis, King, Lita.
Subs: Doyle, Davies, Morrison, Lovenkrands, Fahey, Redmond, Asante
Wanderers (4-4-2): Bogdan; Mears, Mills, Knight, Alonso; Chung-Yong, M Davies, Spearing, Eagles; K Davies, Ngog.
Subs: Lonergan, Andrews, Petrov, Afobe, Ricketts, Sordell, Pratley.
Referee: Carl Boyeson (East Yorkshire)
7:31pm
I watched Birmingham tear Bury to shreds in pre-season and was glad to see Nathan Redmond starting on the bench. Very impressive young player.
Chris Burke also stood out for the Blues on that night, and he'll be starting up against Marcos Alonso down the Blues' right.
7:28pm
@MarcIles Andrews was poor on Saturday so right decision. Seems like he can’t run properly to me. Mavies better in middle.
— @Reebokerglory 18 September 2012
7:27pm
@BWFC_Flakt @MarcIles it said in the mirror Andrews is has an achilles problem.
— @hbk4894 18 September 2012
7:27pm
@BWFC_Flakt @MarcIles it said in the mirror Andrews is has an achilles problem.
— @hbk4894 18 September 2012
7:24pm
Fabrice Muamba will be guest of honour in tonight's game, having represented both clubs, of course. Just been hearing a few of the things he's got in the pipeline over the next few months, and looks like he's going to be a busy lad!
7:18pm
@MarcIles Lonergan is probably annoyed at not having had an chance to show what he can do as Bogdan hasn't been very convincing so far.
— @Jono_The_King 18 September 2012
7:12pm
@MarcIles Andrews carrying an injury, CYL has chance to impress. Can't understand why Petrov not getting game time
— @Macca1512 18 September 2012
7:05pm
@MarcIles Coyle mat be just rotating becuase of the number of league games we have this season. Long season #Bwfc
— @BWFC_Flakt 18 September 2012
7:05pm
Diverse opinion there on the line-up. One thing's for sure, we could do with a performance like the one I saw from this very spot in April 2011... 3-2, Chung-Yong header, Kevin Keegan on the pitch for ESPN with the FA Cup, dreams of Wembley anyone?
7:02pm
@MarcIles Mavies can't play in a 4-4-2, I don't know what Sordell's done wrong + why still no Petrov? Poor bench as well, I'm not hopeful.
— @meanderson93 18 September 2012
7:02pm
@MarcIles I agree with it, let CYL loose on em!! Where is Joe Riley?? Mears is our weak link now we have sorted our left back out!! #bwfc
— @stujanson 18 September 2012
7:02pm
@MarcIles Petrov should be in
— @Ben_OvO 18 September 2012
7:01pm
@MarcIles Where's Wlyde?
— @TheAndyMan1987 18 September 2012
7:00pm
@MarcIles 'What do you make of the #bwfc team then? CYL back in, MDavies moved into the middle, and Andrews dropped to bench.' - PERFECT!
— @ClarkyBWFC 18 September 2012
6:59pm
@MarcIles do you think Andrews has been left out because of his injury or because he didn't have a great game on saturday?
— @JKbwfc 18 September 2012
6:56pm
Birmingham subs by the way: Doyle, Davies, Morrison, Lovenkrands, Fahey, Redmond, Asante
6:55pm
What do we make of that then? Andrews had been struggling with that Achilles injury and didn't play particularly well against Watford, but was bringing Mark Davies back into the middle the answer?
Tweet me @MarcIles
6:54pm
Birmingham: Butland, Murphy, Caldwell, Ibanez, Burke, Mullins, King, Elliott, Spector, Caddis, Lita
6:53pm
So that's one change - Andrews out and Chung-Yong in from the team that beat Watford.
The subs are: Lonergan, Andrews, Petrov, Afobe, Ricketts, Sordell, Pratley
6:51pm
Tonight's Wanderers team: Bogdan, Mears, Mills, Knight, Alonso, Chung-Yong, M Davies, Spearing, Eagles, K Davies, Ngog
6:50pm
Keep your tweets coming to me if you haven't made the trip to Birmingham tonight. For that matter, keep them coming even if you have! @MarcIles and I'll do my best to answer everything I can...
6:48pm
@MarcIles Yep. Lee for M. Davies. We offered little on the right against Watford. Seems Coyle is scared to drop him. 2-1 bwfc win.
— @njcoleman79 18 September 2012
6:48pm
@MarcIles lonergan is a must for the next 5-10 games!! Bogdan needs to come out of firing line for a while! Ricketts in for mears
— @GarethHulme 18 September 2012
6:47pm
But the line-up is a matter of much debate, and a few of you tweeted me @MarcIles earlier today to have your say...
6:47pm
Keith Andrews will also have an injection in an Achilles problem before the game, so should be fine to take his place in midfield.
6:46pm
Just got news that David Ngog should play a part in the squad tonight after the problem he suffered on Saturday was diagnosed only as cramp, and not a back/hamstring problem.
6:45pm
Good evening everyone. Just negotiated the narrow wooden stairs of the press box at St Andrew's to take my place (C19 if you're interested). The weather has brightened up after some early heavy showers in the Second City and the pitch looks great.
