And now onto business.........
For a long time now, even when Big Sam was in charge Gartside should have gone. He is a financial miser, not a football chairmen and his decisions have cost this club dearly in recent years. However, today he made a decision that was the correct one to make for the club, Owen and the good people of Bolton.
I for one will wish Owen well as he is a lovely man and a great ambassador for the town. It was just a shame that he didn't get it right out on the park and I feel that is down to his nature and also the ever growing pressure that the BWFC managers job brings. A lot of our "new" premier league fans will not remember the 80's and 90's when we could only dream of becoming the club we have been and will continue to be.
I believe that the finger needs to be pointed at our over paid, under-performing players. Yes, we can blame tactics, a friendly dressing room and poor refereeing decisions but the fact is these players, who all have the right qualities to take us forward, with a few exceptions have not stepped up to the plate, fought for the club and pleased the townsfolk. They have lay down, rolled over and be happy to contain defeat as opposed to fighting for the shirt and giving 100%. (see McGinlay, Thompson, Bergusson et al)
Moving forwards we need a manager that will inspire this club and be in complete control of all on field matters. I would love to see BSA back at our club but don't see that happening with Mr FA at the helm. So, looking at the candidates.....
McCarthy - give me a break - Looked lost at Wolves and took Sunderland down with a very low points tally.
Sammy Lee - See above
Roy Keane - Not a chance. We need a stable running of the ship. Not a one man mission of volatility
Greame Souness - Out the game too long
Alan Curbishley - See above
Steve Kean - to local and a risk
Mixu, Jimmy Philips, John McGinlay - too romantic and not god choices
So, you may ask, who is on my shortlist.........
Ole Gunna Solskaer - Would love to see him at the club. Great pedigree and admired from a far by everyone at Old Trafford.
Richie Barker - Young, energetic, good track record, fresh ideas. SKD asnumber 2?
Gary Neville- Didn't think I'd ever say this but would be a great move - He has matured greatly since leaving the United back line.
Hierro and Campo - Let's bring sexy football back to club - Big ask but I like the idea and European connections.
So, to conclude. Let's not make a panic appointment, let's bide our time and let the applications come in and approach some serious candidates. Keep the faith.
Get back to the Reebok and back our lads through thick and thin and let us pray for brighter future. The destiny is in our hands now - We just need to believe - Come on Bolton! The only way is up!

So onto addressing the intellegent readers out there,
Neville has no management experience as i know of,
Solksjar only Norwegian experience at that level and there football is nothing like UK football.
Campo? Do me a favour
Hierro ,same as above,
Roy Keane,ha ha,
Steve Kean ??? Oh for him to come to Bolton and win the Championship?
He did nothing wrong at Blackburn that i saw only fall out with the dingles.
The list goes on,Who would i like? Not a clue so i will stick to my job and Phil Can hopefully do his properly this time.
I think he should have stuck with Coyle to be honest, remember utd and Ferguson,Reading last season, how they started and where they finished.
The sacking was an act of desperation and decisions based on that usualy turn out not to be the correct ones? I hope i am wrong.
The answer to one question though does intrigue me Votebondy, why would you want Bolton to go out of business?
Does the thought of our existence keep you awake at night!

Gazza M you are seriously deluded about your club. Your short list of managers is laughable, your opinions about the club are at best naive. Get used to having a professional Yorkshireman in charge. Correct me if im wrong but Coyle was the overwhelming choice by the majority of fans to replace megson, so mr gartside panders to the supporters and chooses him. What happens he takes you down playing worse than you did under megson. Mr gartside is taking the stick for the appointment of your choice. The club should never have let big Sam go,they should have backed him and give him what he wanted. Instead you have let 3 managers squander money on players espcially Coyle who has bought to be polite average players.
