Vernon Kay took to the social networking website to defend Wanderers’ chairman Phil Gartside.
He said: “No-one does more for Bolton and the club than Big Phil. Trust me, I’ve seen it first-hand. Bolton is in his blood more than anyone.”
Cllr John Walsh, for Astley Bridge, said: "I am not surprised. I was at the Reebok last night and I am disappointed and sad that it has come to an end like this.
"But clearly the club’s future needs to be turned around, it may be that a fresh approach is needed. I have heard speculation over who could be brought in but until a decision is made, it is all speculation and I would not like to speculate."
