January 26, 2010: Chung-Yong Lee’s goal gives the Whites a victory over Coyle's previous club Burnley but proves their only league win in 10 games.

March 13, 2010: A thumping 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic – Wanderers’ third in four games – propels the team away from the bottom three.

May 9, 2010: Victory over Birmingham City ensured 14th place and a 10th consecutive season in the top flight.

November 20, 2010: A brilliant 5-1 win over Newcastle United sees Wanderers climb briefly into the top five after losing just three of their opening 16 games.

March 12, 2011: Chung-Yong Lee scores the winner against Birmingham City to send Wanderers into the FA Cup semi-finals.

March 19, 2011: A week after the ecstasy, key midfielder Stuart Holden suffers a horrific knee injury at Old Trafford following a collision with Manchester United defender Jonny Evans. He plays only once more under Coyle.

April 17, 2011: Around 30,000 Whites fans travel down to Wembley but come home hugely disappointed as Wanderers are humbled 5-0 by Stoke City.

May 22, 2011: Despite bouncing back with a thrilling win against Arsenal, Wanderers lost their next six games to drop into the bottom half of the table, finishing 14th.

May 31, 2011: Wanderers release four players, including club record transfer Johan Elmander, for nothing.

June 6, 2011: The Bolton News reports that Aston Villa are considering an approach for Owen Coyle as their new manager, following the departure of Gerard Houllier.

July 31, 2011: Chung-Yong Lee breaks his leg in two places during a pre-season friendly with non-league Newport County.

August 31, 2011: Coyle completes his most costly transfer – the £4million purchase of Liverpool striker David Ngog. He also adds Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears at a combined cost of £3m.

October 20, 2011: A 5-1 defeat at Chelsea confirms the club’s worst start to a season for a century.

January 16, 2012: After nearly two years of heavy speculation, Coyle sells England international Gary Cahill for £7m to Chelsea.

March 17, 2012: Fabrice Muamba collapses on the pitch during an FA Cup quarter final clash with Spurs. Coyle remains in the capital for the first week of his miraculous recovery and is widely praised for the way he and the club handled the situation.

May 13, 2012: Wanderers lose just once in their last six games, but crucially draw four of them. As a result, they are relegated to the Championship after an 11-year stay in the top flight.

May 15, 2012: Chairman Phil Gartside confirms that Coyle will remain with Wanderers despite relegation.

May 18, 2012: Coyle releases 15 players, including several first team regulars such as Ivan Klasnic, Gretar Steinsson, Jussi Jaaskelainen, Ricardo Gardner and Paul Robinson.

May 23, 2012: Wanderers legend Gudni Bergsson calls for Coyle to make an “honest assessment” of the mistakes made in the relegation season.

August 18, 2012: Wanderers get off to a nightmarish start in the Championship, losing 2-0 at Turf Moor against Coyle's former club Burnley.

August 28, 2012: League One Crawley Town dump Wanderers out of the Capital One Cup.

September 1, 2012: Defeat at Hull City prompted calls for Coyle to leave from the travelling support.

October 6, 2012: Coyle takes charge of his last game – a 2-1 defeat at Millwall that left the club 18th in the Championship and just three points off the relegation zone.
