Eagley storm to victory in BBJFL cup final festival

EAGLEY Under-16s turned on the style to cap the weekend’s Bolton and Bury Junior League cup final festival with a resounding 4-0 victory Chairman’s Cup victory over league champions Turton.
Jesse Thomas gave them the perfect start with a towering header from Tyler Duffy’s corner on 13 minutes.
Ewan McCulloch hit the bar for Turton straight after before Eagley took control at the Bolton Wanderers Academy.
Josh Livesey doubled the lead after a mazy dribble and a neat one-two with Tom Burke, and Josh Cross made it three when he tapped in after Nick Critchley pulled off a fine save from another Thomas header.
Gaz Roberts hit the bar and Critchley pulled off a brilliant double save to deny Cross and Burke as Eagley took control.
After Turton’s Joe Luczka smashed a penalty straight at the goalkeeper and blazed the rebound over, Bradley Yates put the game beyond doubt when he volleyed home Jack Lilly’s free kick.
In the U16s Players Cup final, Little Lever ground out a 2-1 victory over Moorside Rangers.
Liam Drakely put Little Lever ahead on 16 minutes when he headed in Marcus Barlow’s deep corner, and doubled his and his team’s tally two minutes later with a sidefoot finish.
Billy Jones proved a resilient barrier as he pulled off a string of fine saves, and Curtis Yates almost made it three when he hit the bar.
Moorside halved the deficit early in the second half through Liam Rimmer and Little Lever had to defend resolutely to clinch the trophy.
Breightmet United twice came from behind to seal a 5-2 victory over Aspull Juniors in the U18s Chairman’s Cup.
Aiden McNamara scored the first equaliser with a stunning 20-yard volley A lapse in concentration allowed Aspull to regain the lead just before half time, but Breightmet stepped up a gear after the break, scoring four goals in quick succession through McNamara, Lee Crompton and Osman Karakan, two.
Division C champions Oxford Grove beat Newbury Tigers 3-1 in the U15s Players Cup. Rehman Dean scored the opener for Oxford in the first half before Merveille Olongo equalised five minutes later.
Brandon Cullen restored Oxford’s lead after the break thanks to some superb work from Danny Collins down the left, before Cullen sealed the victory 15 minutes from time when he drilled home from 12 yards.
Underdogs Deans Youth produced the shock of the weekend with a 2-1 victory over Division A champions Bridge FC in the U15s Chairman’s Cup.
Sam Barnett and James Cropper struck early, as they withstood heavy pressure and broke on the counter.
Bridge pulled one goal back in the second half.
Two goals from Colm Allsop and one each from Ross Dickinson and Jack Thompson gve Eagley a 4-1 victory over Swinton Jaguars in the U13s Players Cup, while Connor Smith, Ben Keating and Philip Wallace scored for Ladybridge Athletic in a 3-1 victory over Elton and Walshaw Lions in the U13s Chairman’s Cup.
Hindsford Youth beat Aspull Juniors 4-2 on penalties after the game ended 3-3 at the end of normal time to lift the U18s Players Cup, and Atherton Town Panthers beat Monton 5-4 in a spot kick shootout after their game ended level at 2-2, and Bury Juniors beat Atherton Town Wanderers 3-1 in the U14s Chairman’s Cup final.
