FARNWORTH United booked their place in the semi-final of the Bolton at Home Open Cup with a 3-2 victory over Heaton Cricket Club.

In a closely-contested quarter-final, Darren Smethurst and Chris Lawton were on target for Heaton but goals from Paul Charlton, Gaz French and Mark Davies saw Farnworth into the last four.

Darcy Lever also secured a place in the semi-final, but needed extra time to overcome Morris Dancers.

The scores were level at 2-2 after 90 minutes but Darcy came good in the extra period to settle the tie.

Gaz Whiteside scored two with Adam Allwill and Nat Whittle also on target for Darcy, Aidy Nugent (two) and Jay Smith scoring for the Dancers.

Queen Anne were celebrating after a 9-1 thrashing of Brindley Arms.

Danny Dare helped himself to a hat-trick while Dave Nuttall, Craig Leader, Lee Whitley, Michael Rice and Martin Brown were all on target for Queen Anne.

In the league, Cattle Market kept up the pressure on top side Morris Dancers by picking up three points with a 4-1 win at D Havilland and now trail the leaders by just three points with four games in hand.

Nathan Monson (three) and Callum Anderson were on target for th Market, Jamie Crompton and Jason Perry scoring for D Havilland.
