WEST LANCS LEAGUE: Resolute Ladybridge hold CMB
DIVISION Two rivals CMB and Ladybridge had to settle for a share of the spoils in an interesting 1-1 draw at Tempest Road.
CMB boss Ron White believed his side deserved more after Andy Warburton dictatied the game from midfield.
Will Archer headed the visitors in front on the half hour but Ladybridge captain Jordan Hussey was fouled in the box five minutes before the break and converted the penalty.
CMB remained on top in the second half but failed to break down the hosts’ resolute the defence.
“We were camped in the Ladybridge half for the second 45 minutes and I think our keeper only touched the ball once, but it wasn’t to be.”
Tempest United suffered two serious injuries to key players to heap on the misery in a 4-0 defeat to reigning Premier Division champions Charnock Richard.
Assistant boss Gary Westhead said: “It was a very bad day at the office.
“We gave soft goals away again, which seems to be the story of our season, but I felt we worked hard against a very good side and even though 4-0 sounds like a battering it wasn’t like that.
“We gave a decent account of ourselves without really troubling them.”
Tempest’s James Hamer suffered a fractured cheekbone, while Alfie Akioutou fractured his ankle and will be out for the rest of season.
Simon Howarth’s Eagley side continue to go from strength-to-strength, moving up to sixth in the Premier Division table following a 3-1 victory over Norcross.
Heath Ainscow made it three goals in two matches to set the Dunscar club on their way while Scott McNair was also on the scoresheet.
In Division One,Turton’s trip to Millom was off but Bolton County beat Mill Hill St Peters 2-0.
Henry Chapman’s side were missing a number of players but dominated the first half and Dennis Strickland deservedly opened the scoring.
And they wrapped up the victory 10 minutes before half time when man of the match Liam Pearcey scored from a corner.
