AMIR Khan's next fight will be in June but it will not be for a world or European title.
Khan was elevated to number one contender status for the WBO lightweight title after his seventh-round stoppage of Dane Martin Kristjansen at the Bolton Arena.
With it came the WBO Inter-Continental crown, but Khan will have to wait a little longer for a crack at another title.

The 21-year-old gave up his Commonwealth belt as he is not prepared to take on British champion and number one contender Jonathan Thaxton, who lost to Yuri Romanov last week.
The European champion from Belarus outclassed Thaxton, but Khan's manager Frank Warren says Romanov is not on the radar at the moment.
"You are talking about the European title and Amir has gone past that as he is the number one contender," Warren said, although he did not rule out a meeting in the future.
"Romanov is in a good position and, hopefully, he will fight for a version of the title and if Amir wins another version of the title it would be a huge fight. He will be a good opponent for Amir down the road."
Meanwhile, Khan will have to wait until the WBO sort out the future of world champion Nate Campbell, who surprisingly defeated the world number-one ranked Juan Diaz, and Joel Casamayor, who beat Michael Katsidis to lift the interim crown.
When that is agreed, with the possibility of a showdown between the two, then Khan will come into contention, as he is now the official number one contender.
Until there is agreement then Warren will not decide Khan's next opponent. All he would disclose was that the fight would be in June but not for the world or European titles.
"I need to know where we are with the WBO before I can make decisions," added the promoter.
"Diaz was the man and he was what we were moving towards, but Campbell beat him and now we will have to see what the WBO decide.
"It has to be a decision whether Casamayor is going to fight Campbell. If he goes in another direction it gives us the opportunity to make that decision.
"The WBO are going to sort out what is going on in the next month or so and we will look at it and make a collective decision between us then.
"His next fight will be in June but not against one of those, but he is in the number one spot and that is where we wanted to get him."
