MIKE Watkinson is urging his Lancashire side to use last season's County Championship heartbreak as a catalyst for success this term.
The Old Trafford side missed out on their first title success in 73 years when they fell an agonising 25 runs short of victory against Surrey at The Oval in September.
It was particularly galling that Lancashire smashed their highest ever fourth-innings total, 464, in pursuit of the holy grail and, as fate would have it, Lancashire return to Surrey for their first Championship game of this season on Wednesday week.

"We realise that we are going back to the same place where we were sat with tears in our eyes six months ago," said cricket manager Watkinson, pictured.
"But we have to put the disappointment behind us and try and capture some of the positives from how we took on the challenge of the last game."
