FOOTBALL used to be a firm fixture on Christmas Day and Wanderers fans of a certain vintage will recall some high scoring encounters.
In 1952, the Whites lost 6-4 to Arsenal at Burnden Park but they have also scored six goals themselves on the same date, back in 1920 when they won 6-2 against Sunderland.
The last time Wanderers played a match on Christmas Day was in 1957 when they drew 1-1 away at Everton.
