ATHLETICS: Despite a cold wind and thawed snow which made the course muddy in places, nearly 200 runners competed in the annual Gin Pit 5miles Trail Race on Sunday.
Horwich Harriers enjoyed a successful morning with both individual winners and two team victories.
Leading the way in first place overall and also taking the 1st veteran Over-40 award was Rob Jackson.
This was a super run with Rob finally taking the Gin Pit title after going close several times. Also having a good run in second place overall and first O45 was the in-form Steve Nolan. Andy Neary in a fine fifth place was the final counter in the victorious Horwich team.
Equally impressive was current international Katie Ingram who smashed her own course record in winning the ladies race by a big margin. With Claire Burns fifth lady and Caroline Scholes sixth lady both running well, this was enough to clinch the ladies team prize.
