BOLTON’S Haroon Khan will face Bulgarian Stefan Slavchev on his professional boxing debut in Sheffield on April 27.

The 21-year-old’s opponent was named yesterday for the super-flyweight contest on the undercard of older brother Amir’s fight with Julio Diaz.

And after weeks of hard training at Oliver Harrison’s Salford-based gym, 2010 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Haroon cannot wait to make his bow in the pro ranks.

He said: “I’m pleased that my opponent has now been named.

“It means that I can start putting together a gameplan to ensure my first outing is a successful one.”

Slavchev, aged 20, has won just three of his 10 fights to date but has experience of boxing in England after bouts in Wolverhampton, Doncaster and Sheffield.

Like Haroon, however, this will be the first big stadium test for the man from Sofia, when they meet over four rounds at the Motorpoint Arena.

Khan added: “I’m extremely confident of getting off to a winning start and making sure I do my part so that April 27 is a great day for the Khan brothers.

“I just can’t wait for the big night.”
