AMIR Khan won a unanimous points verdict against Julio Diaz in Sheffield after a bruising battle against the Mexican former two-time world champion.
In a 143-pound catchweight contest, Khan was floored by the American-based Diaz but got back up to win 114-113, 115-113, 115-112 at the Motorpoint Arena.
And afterwards, Richard Schaeffer of Golden Boy Promotions suggested his next fight would be a world title shot.
Earlier in the night, Khan's younger brother Haroon also won on points on his professional debut against Brett Fidoe, while Blackrood's Rick Godding made it a Bolton hat-trick with an impressive points win oer Welshman Bradley Pryce.
