BOLTON-based boxing starlet Hughie Fury extended his unbeaten professional record with an impressive first-round knockout of tough Czech Republic fighter Ladislav Kovarik on Saturday.

The 18-year-old cousin of heavyweight star Tyson has now won all five of his bouts since turning pro at the beginning of the year.

The teenager trains at Amir Khan’s Gloves Gym and is quickly making his mark in the ring after ending 2012 as Britain’s first super-heavyweight gold medallist at the Youth World Boxing Championships in Armenia.

And the 6ft 7ins boxer’s quickfire win in Kent enhanced his reputation further.

Fury is a man on a mission and wants to break Mike Tyson’s record as the youngest ever world heavyweight champion at the age of 20 in 1986.

Cousin Tyson is impressed with Fury and has proclaimed he will be “a super champion”.

For now, the younger Fury will hope to keep progressing quickly and he is set to be back in the ring this coming weekend.

He is set to face another Czech in the shape of Tomas Mrazek – a fighter who was beaten by Hughie’s cousin Tyson in 2009 in Dublin – in Norwich on Saturday.

l Bolton’s twin boxing brothers Chris and Simon Jenkinson lost their respective outings on points last Friday night.

The light-middleweight fighters, from Elite Gym in Halliwell, were on separate cards with Simon losing out to Cumbrian Rick Skelton at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens after a four-round bout.

Chris, meanwhile, was beaten by Scot Craig Kelly after six rounds in Glasgow.
