Bolton to host knockout show

ONE of the most prestigious competitions in British amateur boxing is coming to Bolton next month.
The Reebok Stadium is to host the National Clubs for Young People Amateur Boxing Finals on March 20.
The championships, sponsored by Bolton Wanderers, bring together some of Britain’s best young boxing talent who have worked their way through local and regional rounds to qualify.
Former champions of the long running championships include Bolton’s very own Amir Khan, Frank Bruno and Ricky Hatton.
Various sponsorship packages are still available for the black tie dinner event. Funds raised from the event will go to two local charities, the Lancashire Association of Clubs for Young People (LACYP) and Bolton Gloves Community Association.
Khan, the WBA light-welterweight world champion, said: “The finals are an excellent opportunity to promote your business, support young athletes and raise funds for two great young people’s charities all in one night.”
LACYP county director Alan Donkin added: “It is fantastic news that we are able to host these finals in Lancashire and hope that local companies will support their achievements and this great sporting occasion. We are very grateful to Bolton Wanderers for their kind sponsorship and we are sure the event will be a great success.”

Meanwhile, Bolton Boxing Development will be holding a one-day ABA tutor course at Bolton University on Tuesday, March 30, between 8.30am-4.30pm. The course provides the basic principles, skills and knowledge needed to begin delivering the ABA awards and costs £100 plus VAT.
