BOXING: Local fighters were in seventh heaven when they booked their place in semi-finals of the national schoolboy championships.
Bolton’s Khaleel Majid (Bridgewater Salford), Kane Roberts (Rumworth & Hulton), Ibrahim Shah (Gloves), Jack Lloyd (Pool Of Life) and Sahir Iqbal (Bury) all won in Sunday’s quarter-finals at the Reebok Stadium.
They will be joined in next month’s semi-finals in Barnsley by Reece Jones (Gloves) and Michael Connor (Leigh) after the pair received walkovers.
But there was disappointment for Bolton’s Reece Smith (Bridgewater Salford), Adam Ridge (Leigh) and defending champion Hassan Mahmood (Bury), who all suffered defeats.
