CHRIS Blinkhorn was in top form to beat Boldon’s Paul Gidney in a glitzy show at the Reebok.
The Castle Hill 54kg boxing star was representing the North West ABA champions against their Tyne Tees counterparts in the Battle of the Belts.
Blinkhorn enjoyed a majority decision against Boldon, who is ranked number three in the country.
But the talented teenager could not prevent Tyne Tees running out 5-4 winners on the night.
Club-mate Chris Jenkinson pulled out of his fight, while Simon Jenkinson and Ben Broadhurst lost on points to Salisbury’s Adam Ismail and Thomas Robinson respectively in support bouts.
A Bolton select squad will take on British Universities at Tonge Ward Labour Club on Friday night. It will include the four Castle Hill fighters, along with club-mates Kieran Briscoe, Reza Ali and Chris Hayes, Rumworth and Hulton duo Anthony Grimshaw and Scott Crawford, and Positive Impact’s Liam Rowbotham will also be in action. Doors open 7pm, boxing starts at 8pm.
