BOLTON’S fight stars proved too clever in the ring for the Universities of England.
The town’s select squad overcame their opponents on an action-packed night of boxing at Tonge Ward Labour Club on Friday.
Castle Hill’s Chris Blinkhorn, Chris Jenkinson, Ben Broadhurst and Hiader Riaz led the way for the lads as they all stormed to victories.
The North West 54kg champion Blinkhorn particularly impressed, with the 18-year-old stopping southpaw Adam Cutler — who is rated two places above him in the amateur rankings — in the second round in one of his best ever performances.
But there was disappointment for Rumworth and Hulton duo Anthony Grimshaw and Scott Crawford who lost on points, as did Positive Impact’s Liam Rowbotham and Castle Hill’s Danny Johnson.
