DEVON Alexander is warning Bolton boxer Amir Khan he will have to deal with his explosive fight style when the pair meet in Las Vegas next month.

The 27-year-old American gets into the ring at the MGM Grand on December 13 to take on Khan a year after the pair had originally been scheduled to meet.

That fight did not transpire with Khan reportedly hoping to take on a dream date with Floyd Mayweather Jnr instead.

But that showdown has still not moved any nearer and Khan is now going head-to-head with Alexander with promoter Oscar De La Hoya predicting a Mayweather clash for the winner.

Khan goes into the fight confident of success as he defends his WBC Silver welterweight title.

But Alexander, who has lost just two of his 28 fights as a professional, is just as positive and says Khan should expect fireworks on the night.

Alexander said: "I am excited. This is going to be an explosive fight.

"It’s an opportunity I have been waiting so long for.

"There are bound to be fireworks

"I am ready for the fight now.

"I was frustrated when it didn’t happen last December but it is no big deal and I quickly moved on when it didn’t.

"I have only got better a year on and am in the prime of my career.

"I’m a difficult task for anyone every time I step into the ring.

"I will be explosive and fast in this fight."

There had been talk of a possible UK battle for Bolton's Khan against Sheffield's IBF world champion Kell Brook – and that clash may still happen in 2015.

But Alexander believes Brook still has to prove himself as a world-class opponent and predicts he will be much tougher for Khan to beat.

Alexander has praised Khan's talents, however, and says he was not surprised when the Bolton star beat Luis Collazo in May in his first fight after stepping up to welterweight.

But he knows he is younger and quicker than Collazo and is vowing to give Khan plenty to think about.

Alexander added: "I am way better than (Kell) Brook; I’m more dangerous for Khan.

"He knows I will be tougher.

"Brook still has to prove himself in my opinion.

"Khan’s Collazo win was not a surprise to me because Collazo is past his time.

"In my opinion, speed kills and Amir Khan did what he had to do.

"I see a true determination in Amir Khan.

"But if I prepare right, both mentally and physically, there should not be any pressure on me."
