Haroon Khan has gained some consolation for his recent defeat in the National Boys Club North-west final by being called up to represent England against Canada tonight.
The 16-year-old, who lost for the second year to Liverpool and England champion, James Dickenson, will face an opponent 12 months older than him in the 51kg Cadet showdown in Basingstoke.
The younger brother of Amir, who is a member of Bury Boxing Club, could also be in action on Monday in the second match against the Canadians.
It is important for Haroon to do well and impress the selectors if he is to make a name for himself on the international stage.
It also provides the perfect build-up to the Junior ABA Championships which start next month.
Haroon needs to win that title and become an ever-present for his country if he is to fulfill his dream of following his brother and represent Great Britain in the Olympics in London in four years' time.
