CASTLE Hill Police boxing club are planning a knockout show on Wednesday night.

The club are celebrating after being re-affiliated to the Amateur Boxing Association this week.

And they plan to showcase their talents by holding their first tournament at Tonge Moor Sports and Leisure Club, formerly Tonge Moor Labour Club.

There will be up to 14 action-packed bouts on the evening, including top local fighters Chris Blinkhorn, Simon Jenkins, Kieran Briscoe, Danny Johnson and Ben Broadhurst.

“This is the club’s first show and we’re really looking forward to it,” said head coach Mark McGaughey, who took over seven months ago.

“It will also be a really good night for the community and we hope everyone will come along and support a night of great boxing.”

Tickets cost £10 and can be bought on the door or in advance from Mark on 07988 070715. Doors open 7.30pm, action starts 7.45pm.

Bolton-based light heavyweight Carl Dilkes will take on Sheffield’s Billy Boyd for the vacant masters title at Wigan’s Robin Park tomorrow night.
