ASTLEY Bridge wicketkeeper Rick Northrop has been named Bolton League’s amateur player of the season.
Northrop won the award – voted for by his fellow players – for the first time in his 21st season in first-team cricket after finishing as the leading amateur run scorer with 939 runs.
The 37-year-old also took 26 catches and stumpings to surpass Jon Partington’s all-time League career record of 609 victims.
Farnworth SC’s Tim Rees took the batting prize and Egerton’s Amal Dalugoda finished as best bowler – both prizes are awarded to the top amateurs with the best averages.
Westhoughton’s Qaiser Abbas was voted top professional.
