A BOLTON Association cricket club has received a ground-improvement grant for almost £45,000.

Winton will use the money to make a number of improvements to clubhouse and playing facilities after their application via the Virridor Credits grant scheme application was awarded in full.

It will fund a new perimeter security fence around the Alder Forest ground to help fight problems with vandalism which they have been subjected to for several years.

The fence will also help protect new wicket covers and batting cages which have been awarded in the grant.

On matchdays, a new full-size electronic scoreboard will replace the old manual one.

Inside the clubhouse there will be a remodelling of the showers and a disabled toilet will be built.

Winton is already regarded as one of the best grounds in the Bolton Association and boasts one of the best pitches, with the groundsman receiving a top award last season.

The improvements are due to be in place for the start of next season.
