GREENMOUNT, Kearsley, Farnworth Social Circle and reigning champions Egerton will go for glory in the Anthony Axford Indoor Cricket Tournament on Sunday.

The quartet reached the last four last weekend at the expense of Westhoughton, Horwich, Eagley and Farnworth at Bolton School.

The quarter-finals took place following a minute's silence for Bolton League stalwart and former Greenmount player Derek Kay who died recently.

Westhoughton batted first and lost their opener Danny Naylor caught by Ryan Senior off the first ball of the match.

Shaun Dunning followed in the next over and at 5-22 Kieran Paisley found himself with six overs to play on his own.

A superb effort took him to 69 not out and his team to 87.

Phil Ingham finished with 2-14 and Andy Kerr 2-11 off their three overs.

The Bury side passed the target for the loss of only one wicket.

Ryan Senior top scored with 25 not out, ably supported by Andy Kerr who was unbeaten on 24.

Some tight bowling by Kieran Edwards (1 for 17) and Danny Higham (0 for 10) made Greenmount fight all the way.

Egerton set Farnworth a daunting task when they scored 128-4 off their 12 overs.

The top scorers were Scott Martin with 28 not out, Will Halton 27 not out and Danny Partington with 26.

In reply, Farnworth lost the wicket of Simon Booth for 17 when the total was 25.

A partnership of 37 between Chris Wilson(22 not out) and Michael Hicks(25 not out) looked to be putting Farnworth on the right track but it was not to be with the team only reaching 89-3.

The pick of the Egerton bowlers was Paul Stafford with 2-32.

Horwich had a horrible start against Kearsley when opener Marcus Pratt was run out first ball and was followed by Tom Speak next ball.

Phil Cavill and Lewis Haydock steadied the ship for a while before Haydock was out leg before wicket to Mohammed Jameel for 23 and Phil Cavill was run out for 30.

Andy Taylor managed to get the total to 83 with a knock of 15 and, for Kearsley, Josh Roscoe took 2-18 and Jameel 1-14.

Kearsley went through to this weekend's semi-finals by replying with 86-1, Joe McCann unbeaten on 25 and Rick Hamblett 22 not out.

The final match of the round saw FSC play Eagley who batted first and were restricted to 52-6 from 11 tight overs.

David Tonge took 1-6 off his two overs and Jamie Bohannon 1-13 off his three. Asif Bhojani top scored for Eagley with 18.

In reply, FSC openers Christian Walsh and David Tonge put on 44 before the first wicket fell when Walsh was stumped by Jack Wayman on 23.

David Tonge followed seven runs later, bowled by Ross Brown for 16 before Matt Parkinson and Andrew Waring saw FSC to 54-2 in 6.1overs.

Sunday's schedule at Bolton School begins with a semi-final between Greenmount and Kearsley at 12.30pm followed by Egerton versus FSC at 3pm.
