BOLTON duo Nalisha Patel and Megan Fairclough made good contributions as Lancashire Women earned their first wins of the season.

The Red Rose side beat Essex and Derbyshire in the Twenty20 competition.

After losing their first three games in the top tier of the County Championship Lancashire got off to a winning start at Twenty20.

They managed a total of 60-6 against Essex in a game reduced to 10 overs a side due to the weather.

In reply, Essex were restricted to 45-4 with Fairclough taking 1-7 and Patel 0-5 in their respective two overs.

The second game was reduced to 18 overs a side and Lancs posted 108-6.

Derbyshire crumbled in reply to 34 all out with Fairclough taking 2-7 from her four overs and Patel 3-6 from three including two wickets in two balls.

One Sunday Lancashire return to County Championship action with the first home game of the season against Surrey at Urmston.

The action starts 11am and Lancashire will have a strong local Bolton contingent playing along with Bury's Kate Cross, and the latter's fellow England internationals Natalie Sciver and Holly Knight expected to take part. Entrance is free.
