EDGWORTH and Walshaw continued their impressive eight-game winning runs with routine victories against Golborne and Darcy Lever.

Ather Abid (48) and James Hill (51) scored high for the visitors who reached a healthy total of 176-7 after the completion of their 37 overs. Gavin Nichol (2-45) and Darren Foy (2-58) inflicted the most damage with the ball taking two wickets apiece.

Jamar Griffith starred for Atherton with both the bat and ball as they swept aside Westleigh who were back in action for the first time following their first win of the season the previous weekend.

Toby Leeds opened the scoring with 60no for the Bolton Association new-boys, and skipper Jonny Entwistle added 28.

However, the bowling attack of Griffith (3-64) and Harry McManus (3-42) limited the visitors’ score to 154-8.

Griffith turned his hand to the bat and hit 66no, which along with Callum Barlow’s 52 led to a seven-wicket victory, ensuring Atherton remain in third-place.

Bury are up to fifth in the table after recording an emphatic 91-run victory against Worsley.

Ashen Silva scored 58 and captain Sean Gibson hit 25 as Bury got off to a fast start, but the impressive bowling of David Purcell (5-53) had them dismissed for 179.

The visitors opened the batting and got off to a good start when Travis Wordsworth struck 83. However, five run-outs was A&T’s downfall as they were bowled out for 150.

Lostock’s response started slow and Jim Cutt (4-91) tore through the batting line up.

However, when eighth-placed batsman David Flanagan entered the crease he swung the tie back into his sides favour striking 55no – ultimately wrapping up the victory with two-wickets to spare.
