LUKE Perry – the league’s second-highest run scorer with 479 runs – inspired Flixton to a 66-run victory against Blackrod.

Opener Perry stuck four fours on his way to 50 and Adrian Holmes and Dean Taylor both scored 27 as Flixton posted 124-7 after their rain-reduced 30 overs.

A large chunk of the fallen wickets came courtesy of Steven Ashworth, who bowled 5-48 inside 11 overs.

Thusendra de Zoysa – Blackrod’s highest run-scorer with 438 runs this campaign – top-scored with 18, but the woeful batting line up struggled against the bowling attack of Nathan McKiernan (3-20) and Usman Tariq (2-20).

Blackrod never looked likely to reach the target and they fell 66 runs short as the overs expired – meaning Flixton rose to fourth in the table.

Standish recorded only their second win of the season at home to Adlington.

Majid Majeed (35) and Iain Critchley (39) scored high as Adlington were bowled out for 172. Ben Dowling (3-24) and skipper Sam Heeley (3-49) impressed with the ball.

Heeley turned his hand to the bat and scored 43, but Luke Kennedy was the star of the show striking eight fours and four sixes on his way to 89no. Dowling chipping in with 29 at the tail-end as the hosts secured the victory with two wickets to spare. Critchley (3-23) was the only bowler of note.

James Wade struck a century as Swinton Moorside defeated second-bottom Daisy Hill.

Wade opened the batting and struck 15 fours and three sixes on his way to 107 before being bowled out by Adil Younis (2-38). Peter Kay also hit 29no as Swinton posted 200-7 after their rain-reduced 31 overs. Will Berry was the most notable bowler taking 3-39.

Daniel Robinson spearheaded the reply scoring 47 but Brad Palmer (3-48) and Dean Davies (3-36) did enough to dismiss Daisy for 128.
