GREENMOUNT returned to the top of the Bolton League with a narrow victory away to Westhoughton on Sunday, writes Mikael McKenzie

Josh Macey top-scored for the league-leaders with 31 but Oliver Newby (4-46) helped dismiss the visitors for 149.

Qaisar Abbas (41) and Sean Dunning (40) starred for Westhoughton but they fell 25 runs short of the target courtesy of impressive bowling from Mark Stewart (5-74) and Phil Heaton (3-33).

Farnworth recorded a four-wicket victory at Horwich with Matt Morris (61) and Phil Cavil (56) impressing in a score of 163-6.

Curtis Anderton (4-36) did the most damage with the ball and in reply Adil Nisar (51) and Chris Baxendale (34) helped Farnworth chase down the runs.

Egerton are up to third after recording a comfortable victory against Kearsley.

Anthony Clegg (60) and Amal Dalugoda (50) helped Egerton to 201-8. Mohammed Jameel was the only bowler of note taking 5-82.

Grant Cordin hit 41 in reply but the Springfield Road side couldn’t cope with Scott Martin (4-50) and Adam Street (4-50) and they were dismissed for 108.

Eagley came out on top against Little Lever.

Zain Abbas and Ayaz Hanif both struck 36 and Donald Heyes added 38 not out as the Victory Road side posted 217-9. Awais Zia (4-78) and Saif Bhojani (3-76) took majority of the wickets.

Bhojani then struck 77 and Paul Rayment chipped in with 45 as Eagley achieved the target with three wickets to spare.

Tonge suffered an embarrassing 10-wicket defeat at home to Bradshaw.

Daniel Holt top-scored with 11 as the hosts collapsed for 47 thanks to Steve Foster’s 7-25.

Kamran Younis (29no) and Stuart Hornby (18no) saw off target in 10 overs.

Farnworth SC were celebrating a victory against Heaton thanks to Tim Barrow (46), Chris Barrow (38no) and Andrew Lane (37) setting a target of 174.

Dave Mather bowled 7-60 as Heaton fell 70 runs short in reply – Matt Fray top-scored with 37.

Sayed Shah (61) and Johnathan Fowler (58no) ensured Walkden returned to winning ways – setting Astley Bridge a total of 241-6 to beat.

Amal Athulathmudali (34) top scored in reply but his side couldn’t find a way past the bowling attack of Shah (3-16), Ryan Ayres (3-48) and Adnan Malik (3-33) as they were dismissed for 122.
