ADIL Nisar hit a century for Farnworth as they remain top of the Bolton League after recording a comfortable victory against Walkden.

Nisar – who hit a Bridgeman Park record of 160 a fortnight ago – is the third highest-scoring batsman in the league with 624 runs.

And he added 104 to his impressive tally as Farnworth opened the batting.

Kamran Sajid (47), Melbourne Austin (36no) and Chris Baxendale (31) also scored high as they posted 269-4.

Taylor Heyes hit 46 and Ryan Ayres struck 43 in reply but the bowling attack of Sajid and Austin – who took four wickets apiece – dismissed the visitors for 120.

But Farnworth will not be sitting comfortably at the top of the pile as Egerton are lurking five points behind after defeating Astley Bridge.

A strong top-order batting line up enabled the hosts to attack from the off. Daniel Partington started the scoring hitting 37 and professional Mahela Udawatte added 36.

Amal Dalugoda scored an unbeaten 80 not out as his partnership with Anthony Clegg (33no) enabled the title contenders to set a target of 232-4.

Opener Andy Northrop led the reply scoring 36 before Syd De Silva struck 37. But the bowling prowess of Will Halton proved too much and his six-wicket haul for 40 dismissed Astley Bridge for 167.

However, Halton was unable to bowl out Millen Patel who finished on 34 not out.

Early pace-setters Greenmount are in third – one win away off top spot – after seeing off Little Lever.

The Victory Road side were led by Ayaz Hanif who scored 123 not out as they posted 238-7. Mark Stewart was the most notable bowler taking 4-86.

Greenmount captain Andy Kerr scored 101 not out in reply – which along with Phil Ingram's 70 and Travis Townsend's 50 not out – enabled the Brandlesholme Road side to record a nine-wicket win.

Elsewhere, a six-wicket haul from Mohammed Jameel was unable to quench Kearsley's barren run of form after they were defeated by Heaton.

With only one win in their last six games, the Springfield Road side continued to slide down the table as they failed to meet the 190-9 target.

Opener Matt Frey scored 30 and Imran Mirza hit 28 as the Lower Pools gradually built up the score. Middle-order batsman Adam Halton sped up proceedings rushing to 44 off 35 balls as Heaton ended their innings with a healthy total – despite Jameel bowling 6-75.

Wicketkeeper Richard Hamblett top-scored with 24 in reply but professional Haroon Farhat (5-36) and Imran Mirza (4-62) did the damage with the ball to dismissed Kearsley for 133.

Farnworth Social Circle recorded a routine win against bottom-of-the-table Tonge.

Andrew Lane (42), Christian Walsh (40) and Rameez Alam (35) all impressed with the bat as the Piggott Park side posted 225-9. Mansoor Ahmed was the only bowler of note taking 4-81.

Dave Bath top-scored with 23 in reply – but another dismal batting display ensured Dave Mather (6-49) and Callum Rushmore (3-30) had them bowled out for 97.
