WESTLEIGH picked up their second win of the season at the expense of Darcy Lever.

In a bottom-of-the-table showdown the loser was guaranteed to find themselves rock bottom of the league.

Darcy – who were already on a 12-game losing streak – opened the scoring as Gareth Hopkinson and Nick Fawcett scored 41 and 29 respectively.

Tom Pemberton bowled 4-6 as the visitors were dismissed for 171.

Toby Leeds led the reply smashing 81 not out. Pemberton turned his hand to the bat and scored 30 as Westleigh achieved the target with five wickets remaining. Dominic Gavin did the most damage with the ball taking 4-47.

Walshaw's dismal run of form continued as they suffered a defeat away to Standish.

Having sat second in the table at the end of June they have now slumped to 11th after picking up only one win in their last seven games.

Nick Smith (40) and Sam Heeley (38) led Standish on the way to a total of 177-8. Danny Hornby was the pick of the bowlers taking 3-23.

Tom Murphy yet again top-scored for his side with 34 but Walshaw failed to deal with the impressive bowling attack of Ben Dowling and Israr Ul Haq who took 7-44 and 3-49 respectively.

Travis Wordsworth and Jimmy Cutt both knocked centuries as Astley and Tyldesley brushed aside Golborne.

After losing an early wicket Wordsworth (105 not out) and Cutt (121no) partnered each other at the crease and smashed their way to a total of 262-1.

In reply Tim Halliday scored 59 not out and Jake Waterworth added 40. Golborne were also gifted 54 extras but it proved not enough to salvage a result as they were dismissed for 220.

Worsley picked up their fourth consecutive win with a nine-wicket victory away to Daisy Hill.

Adil Ali top-scored for Daisy with 23 but his side were dismissed for 107 thanks to the brilliant bowling of Mike Gould (4-35) and James Kilner (3-32).

Only one wicket fell in reply and that was of Tom Othick who scored 33 before Mike Old (40no) and Matt McLlelan-Grant (24no) saw the win home.
