THE Bolton Cricket League's two divisions from 2017 will be called the Premiership and the Association.

Clubs voted on the divisional names at the league's monthly meeting on Monday when it was also decided to retain the overall name 'Bolton Cricket League'.

The issue of names arose when nine Bolton Association clubs joined the BCL recently ahead of it becoming an expanded single league of 21 clubs next season and then two divisions from 2017.

An option for the overall league name was the Bolton Cricket Alliance, but 'Bolton Cricket League' got the majority support, as did 'Premiership' and 'Association' for the divisions ahead of several alternatives including Division One and Division Two.

It was also decided on Monday that the league's new Twenty20 competition will be held in midweek with a new 40-over cup competition introduced on Sundays.

Further details of both competitions will be announced in due course.
