THE silverware keeps coming for a Bolton teenager as he continues to rise through the ranks as a promising cricketer.

Josh Bohannon picked up the Sports Achiever of the Year award at Bolton Council's Active Sport Awards at the Macron Stadium and then followed it up with being named Player of the Year at Southport and Birkdale CC who played in the ECB Premier Division of the Liverpool League.

The 18-year-old said: "It has been a bit surreal and I did not expect to win the Bolton Sports award.

"Mark Crowder from Farnworth Social Circle nominated me and I did not think I would win it."

The award was given to the Lancashire CC Academy player for his achievements in 2014 and 2015.

It was a roller-coaster after scoring more than 1,000 runs in all forms of cricket for his county and he was also the top runs-scorer in the country at Under-17s level.

He had scores of 213 for the Red Rose u17s in the semi final of the two day national championship and 105 against Durham in the one day national championships of which they went on to become national champions in the one day competition and had to share the two day championship with Surrey due to the game being abandoned.

Bohannon also helped the Piggott Park side to the Bolton League title and was voted the Lancashire Cricket Boards Player Of The Year and awarded The Cedric Rhodes Trophy and selected for Lancashire's Academy.

This season, the batsman has earned a regular place in the Lancashire's 2nd XI, were he has hit a ton.

He was also among the runs for his club side Southport and Birkdale CC and finished second top run-scorer in the league, hitting just short of 700 runs.

The youngster has also been the 12th man for Lancashire's 1st XI on several occasions this year including outings against Kent, Gloucester and Derbyshire, when fellow Boltonian Karl Brown was injured.

He said: "I have worked really hard over the past two winters and it has paid off.

"I was really happy about getting a hundred for the (Lancs) second team but also playing with Lancashire firsts was brilliant.

"I had been growing up watching Alviro Peterson on the television and to play on the same pitch and learn from him was great.

"I want to thank my family and Rijo 42, where I work as an apprentice engineer for their support."
