WALKDEN, Horwich, Kearsley and Farnworth Social Circle will battle it out for the Anthony Axford Indoor Trophy.

The quartet won their quarter-final ties on Sunday at Bolton School, seeing off the challenges of Atherton, Bradshaw, Eagley and Farnworth.

The big was saved for last when the two Farnworth big guns went head to head and a strong Social Circle side came out on top.

FSC – featuring new signings Rick Hamblett and Ryan Ayres – won the toss and batted first, and with some quick running between the wickets and good placing of the ball, amassed a total of 151-2.

Hamblett led the way with 36 not out followed by Matthew Parkinson (27 not out), Ryan Ayres (28 not out) and Christian Walsh (24).

Farnworth found it hard to score at almost 13 an over and with two quick run-outs soon found themselves struggling to keep up with the run rate.

At 38-5, Matthew Hicks was left to face the last few overs on his own and took the total to 67 before the 12 overs were up.

Earlier, Atherton and Walkden got the day's action started.

Atherton batted first and after being 63-5 – Callum Barlow scoring 40 not out – managed to get the score up to 81 before running out of overs.

In reply, Walkden made 82-1, Hassain Altaf (22), Taylor Heyes (26 not out) and Jonathon Fowler (20 not out) the main run scorers.

Bradshaw versus Horwich was next up and saw the Rigbys men bat first and make 80-4 off their 12 overs.

The top scorer was Tom Liversedge with 29 and the best bowling performance came from Phil Ingram with 2-19.

Bradshaw took them to the last over before the winning runs were scored, largely due to the efforts of Ryan Chaisty who had to retire on 25 in the 11th over which left Liam Bones to hit the winning run.

In the other quarter-final Kearsley won the toss and batted first against Eagley.

Kearsley were all out for 92 on the last ball of the 11th over, top scorer Naz Ahmed run out on 38.

In reply, Eagley were all out for 60 with Grant Cordin producing the best bowling performance with 1-12 off 2.2 overs while top scorer for Eagley was Adil Vali with 21.

Sunday's semi-finals: 12.30pm Kearsley v FSC, 1.45pm Walkden v Horwich.

Final: approximately 3pm.
