FOR all those who doubt the adage that life begins at 40, dad-of-two kickboxing champion Andy Caton is living proof.

Caton, who trains at North West Warriors martial arts and fitness centre, off Bury Road, recently won his 40+ age class in the under-75k weight category at the WMO British Championships.

His success at the tournament, which was held at Queens Diamond Jubilee Centre in Rugby, has guaranteed a place on the Great Britain squad at the world championships later this year.

Coach and club owner Paul Smith said: "North West Warriors have a very successful track record of producing British and world champions and we have done it again.

"It is a fantastic achievement for Andy to be crowned WMO champion at 40 and he deserves his place in the world championship squad.

"It just shows you what dedication and hard work can do.

"Andy is a married dad of two, but he has given up a lot of family time to train up to three times a week at the gym.

"His family have supported him all the way, though, and were absolutely delighted with the result.

"It was great to see that all his effort and sacrifice has been worthwhile."
