BOLTON cricketer Adam Syddall captained the Minor Counties representative side against the MCC at Lord's last week, the first of two games he played at the Home of Cricket in seven days.

The bowler, who plays for Edgworth, captained the team twice last season when he notched up two victories against Yorkshire 2nd XI and the ICC Elite Cricket Academy.

The 35-year-old left arm paceman was unable to retain his 100 per cent winning record.

The seamer who has played more than 100 games of minor counties cricket for both Cambridgeshire and Cheshire, said: “Playing at the Home of Cricket is always a great honour, but to lead the lads through the Long Room and out onto the hallowed turf makes it even more special. Those are the unforgettable moments.”

The Heaton man's side batted first and were struggling to post a competitive score until a late recovery saw them finish on 224.

Syddall took two of the seven wickets to fall in the MCC reply.

He bowled the first over from the Pavilion End before the MCC openers began to dominate, reaching 150-0 at the halfway stage.

A flurry of wickets saw MCC collapse to 210-7 and spark a glimmer of hope for the Bolton man's team before the MCC got over the line.

Syddall is a product of the Bolton cricket scene, playing all his junior cricket at Heaton before representing Lostock from 1999 to 2004 when he moved to Edgworth where he was professional for two years.

He then spent 10 seasons in the Cheshire County Premier League before returning to play for Edgworth this season.

Syddall is also an MCC member and has played more than 100 games for the club.

This week he made his ninth appearance at Lord's when he represented the MCC on Wednesday.

This time he was in the home dressing room when the MCC played the MCC Young Cricketers.

He added: "This will will potentially be my last [appearance at Lord's].

"I feel truly blessed to have had so many opportunities to play at the best ground in the world.

"I first played at Lord's in 2007 alongside fellow Boltonian Jason Whittaker in a Cheshire v Suffolk one-day cup final."
