DAISY Hill and Bradshaw continue to set the pace at the top of the Bolton League second XI competition as both registered their third wins out of three.

Horwich RMI and Farnworth are hot on their heels with wins in the two matches they have been able to start.

Daisy Hill maintained their great start with a four-wicket win over Farnworth SC, chasing down a rain-reduced target of 190.

Adam Arkwright's unbeaten 43 provided the backbone to a consistent performance as six of the Daisy Hill batsmen reached double figures. Earlier Andrew Wareing (46) and Simon Harrison (34 not out) had been the main contributors in Circle's total of 203-8.

Bradshaw edged past Walkden's 208-7 with just two wickets to spare.

The Walkden innings had been built around 50s from Nigel Partington and Fazdullah Shah, together with 46 from Muhammad Razzaq. In reply a stand of 135 between Ryan Garner (87no) and Nick Palmer (50) was mainly instrumental in seeing Bradshaw home as Partington completed a good day with 3-32.

Sixteen-year-old Ben Harrison was the star of the show as champions Westhoughton made short work of Lostock in a nine-wicket win.

He took 3-6 to back up the earlier efforts of Simon Ashcroft (4-25) and Oliver Dixon (3-41) to help skittle Lostock for just 103.

Then he smashed an early contender for the fastest 50, needing just 26 balls to reach 52no including six sixes. With Matthew Trow (32no)supporting him well Westhoughton cantered home.

Farnworth raced to a rapid nine-wicket victory over Tonge at Bridgeman Park.

Tonge provided little resistance to the bowling of Peter Eccles (5-25) and Andrew Brooks (3-27) as they struggled to 72 all out. Matthew Hicks (39) and Jamie Bohannon (21no) made short work of the target.

Darcy Lever posted the highest score of the day as their 238-9 proved to be 110 too many for Golborne at The Levers.

Ian Jones (67no), Rajan Shah (39) and Wayne Hopkinson (38) led the way for the home side as Brett Houghton picked up 3-52.

Golborne battled hard in their reply but never threatened to win the game as they closed on 128-9, with Toseef Hanif taking 3-49.

Tony Tipping continued his good form with the ball, collecting 5-50, but Kearsley still inflicted a first defeat of the season on Blackrod by 35 runs.

Neil Thompson (49), Jack Pellowe (47) and Joe Capstick (39) provided the bulk of Kearsley's 207, and then, despite Tom Mather hitting an unbeaten 55 and Paul Wheeler 37 Blackrod made just 169-9 in reply.

There was a tight game at Adlington where the home side chased down a revised target of 177 to beat Eagley by just two wickets.

George Howarth followed up last week's ton with 86 as Zak Green and Elliot Lee each took three wickets to restrict Eagley to 192 all out.

Jordan Lomax then produced an inspired spell of 5-8 but Andrew Chamberlain (55), Daryl Hitchen (35) and Elliot Lee (32) saw their side home.

Horwich RMI picked up their second win by a comfortable margin of 103 runs against Atherton at the Recreation Ground.

Despite a superb spell of 7-47 from Daniel Hughes, Joe Settle (39) led the way as eight batsmen reached double figures and the team effort led RMI to 180-9.

James Hatton with 26 was the only highlight of a disappointing reply of just 77 with Jack Berry taking 5-12 and Charlie Dobson 3-23.

A low scoring game at Little Hulton saw the home side edge out Heaton as Ian Lee had a day to remember for the villagers. Chasing 109 to win, Lee held the innings together with an unbeaten 40 to foil the efforts of Jacob Whittaker (4-30) and Mark Howarth (3-45) and see his side home. Earlier he had produced a devastating 9-21 to skittle Heaton for 108 with Jimmy Dakars (37) and Jake Corrigan (32) providing the main resistance.

Veterans Paul Clucas (49) and Paul Hassan (32) were the highest contributors as Standish posted a total of 161-9 against Astley Bridge – for whom Jameel Rashid took 3-28. Bridge raced to their target with Ady Cooper unbeaten on 87.
