HORWICH captain David Morris claims his side are not getting carried away after they continued their unbeaten start to the season with a thumping victory against Walkden.

The Oval outfit, who had won all of their previous three games, failed to deal with the bowling prowess of Liam Bones (5-48) and professional Brett Pelser (4-28) as they were dismissed for 115. Taylor Hayes was the only batter of note, knocking a half-century.

Horwich's opening duo Phil Ingram (53 not out) and Matt Morris (38 not out) replied with all wickets still intact to run out 10-wicket winners.

Skipper Morris is pleased with the start his side has made to the new season but he insists his side will not be getting too ahead of themselves.

“It was a good win,” he said. “I am pleased with the start of the season but we are not getting carried away with it.

“Our aim at the start of the season was to finish in the top six and that still remains.

“It is the first time our new signing Phil Ingram has fired and his partnership with Matt just went perfectly.

“We have 11 first-teamers at training every week, everybody is enjoying it and long may it continue.”

Elsewhere, Daisy Hill defeated Blackrod to go level on points with their former Bolton Association counterparts.

Daisy struggled early on as Joe Speak (3-29) was in fine form with the ball, taking three of the first four wickets to leave Blackrod on 32-4.

But Adnan Raees hit a massive 94 which, backed up by Stephen Hodgkinson's 47 and James Mann's quick-fire 31 not out, helped fire the St James Street side to a total of 248-7.

Blackrod struggled to reply and lost their first two wickets for only seven runs.

But when Thushendra de Zoysa (56) came to the crease and partnered skipper Chris Anderson (65) their fortunes changed.

The batting duo bumped Blackrod's score up to a healthy 158-5. However, Raeees (4-50) turned his hand to the ball late on and the final five wickets fell for only six runs.

Little Hulton picked up their first win of the season at home to Tonge.

Imran Butt (66), Shoaib Mohammed (64) and Shaukat Patel (47) all scored highly with the bat as Little Hulton put on 318-8 – helped by a total of 61 extras.

When Patel and Butt turned their hand to the ball they took 6-42 and 3-55 respectively as Tonge were bowled out for 110.

Majid Majeed inspired Adlington to victory against Astley Bridge.

Richard Northrop hit 36 and Soyab Taylor struck 51 as the Sharples Park outfit posted a total of 183 during the first innings.

Zaraq Nazir was the only bowler of note, taking 3-52.

Simon Trim scored 36 in reply but when he was dismissed Majid Majeed (71) built a formiddable partnership with Iain Critchley (27) and they batted their way to victory with the loss of only three wickets.

Heaton skipper Gary Garner is delighted with his side's batting display after they scored 300 runs during an emphatic victory against Standish.

Oliver Sutcliffe and Sam Hardman both scored 59 as Heaton's batters impressed from the off.

Professional Haroon Farhat hit 11 boundaries – three sixes and eight fours – as he knocked 82. Mustafa Bashir also chipped in with 29 not out late on as the hosts posted 300-6.

Aaron Clarke was the only bowler of note, taking 3-109.

Stephen Wright top-scored in reply with 26 but Standish were bowled out for 86 thanks to the bowling of Bashir (5-24) and Joe Ducker (3-16).

Heaton captain Garner was delighted with the win that leaves his side third in the league table.

“It was a comfortable win and a solid batting performance once again,” he said. “Standish's opening bowlers bowled well but our batters did well to get some greats 70s and our pro Farhat was superb getting 80.

“It would have been decent to get 200 on a wicket like that but Bashir came in late on and hit 30 odd off the last couple of overs which pushed us up to 300.

“We know who we are and we don't expect to be competing with the big boys, we expect to be halfway up the table.

“I think we know already who the top four or five are going to be but it will be a good test for our younger lads when they get to play against and learn from some of those teams.

“The big test will come when we get beat and how the lads respond.”

Standish skipper Pankaj Tripathi admitted that once Heaton racked up a total of 300, it never looked likely his side would get back into it.

He said: “When you are chasing a score of over 300 you are going to need to have one of the best matches of your lives to come back.

“It very rarely happens. You either have the best match of your life or go 80 to 120 all out.

“We know the capabilities of our batting line-up and we know what they can do but that was beyond us.

“It was beyond pressure. People don't like to hear it, they like to talk positive but when the score is that high you're almost resigned to it.”

Meanwhile, Atherton are still searching for their first win of the season following defeat to Lostock.

Brenton Parchment (61) and Jack Shovelton (52) impressed with the bat as Atherton posted 151. Rob Holgate (4-54) and Jaydyn Simmons (3-29) did the damage with the ball.

Simmons turned his hand to the bat and struck 51 while teammate Peter Flanagan finished on 49 not out as victory was assured with six wickets remaining.

David Morris scored 90 as Kearsley set Eagley a target of 182.

Agar Salman was the only bowler of note taking 4-48, before turning his hand to the bat and scoring 61 but with little support his side were dismissed for 135.

Faisal Zeeshan Hussain (3-26) and Mohammed Jameel (4-57) did the damage with the ball.

Adil Nisar scored his third century of the season as heavy-hitting Farnworth swept aside Golborne.

The league's top scorer has 357 runs to his name and is well on target to beat his 1,076 seasonal total achieved last year.

Nisar opened the batting for Farnworth and scored 111 off 95 balls. Imran Mirza also starred with the bat as he knocked 107 not out.

Sub professional Mohammed Wajihuddin bowled 4-42 as the Lavender Road side posted 283-6.

Jake Waterworth top-scored in reply with 68 and Ciaran Vesey added 30.

The remainder of the batting line-up failed to deal with the impressive bowling of Dinuka Hettiarachchi, who took 6-59 as Golborne were dismissed for 173.

Farnworth Social Circle remain at the summit of the Bolton League after they won at Bradshaw.

Andy Lane knocked a half-century from 101 balls for the Piggott Park side, before Chris Barrow chipped in with 44.

Wickets began to fall as Steve Foster (3-68) and Phil Dickinson (3-49) took three apiece and the visitors were dismissed for 202.

Nick Lester (42), Rob Hardman (38) and Stuart Hornby (28) all scored decent totals in return, but Dave Mather's impressive bowling taking 6-84 restricted Bradshaw to 169-9.

Oliver Newby's five-wicket haul helped Westhoughton kept up their good form with a victory at Little Lever.

The Howfeners opened the batting as Danny Naylor scored 40 and skipper Rob Houghton added 39.

But they were bowled all out for 190 when sub professional Babar Naeem took control of the ball and bowled 4-82. Dave Bath also took 3-48.

Wicketkeeper Ayaz Hanif responded with 30 for Little Lever but Newby posted bowling figures of 5-31 as the hosts were bowled out for 130 – 60 run short of the target.
