WILL Shuttleworth starred as the Bolton League Colts got their inter-league season off to a stunning start with a 176-run victory in Cumbria.
The Eagley youngster proved his all-round class by scoring a super century before taking four wickets at a cost of a miserly four runs.
He was far from the only Bolton player to impress in the destruction of North Lancashire and Cumbria, however.
Opener Matthew Morris scored 45 and Horwich club-mate Tom Billington added 42 after coming in at number three.
They provided a platform for Shuttleworth, at number four, to construct a formidable target with his show-stopping 110 with Atherton's Leighton Smith providing evidence he is capable of competing at inter-league level with a fine knock of 36 on his debut for the team.
Bolton finished on 277-7 from 45 overs before whittling North Lancs & Cumbria out for 101.
Blackrod's Matt Readey provided a fine six-over opening spell which returned 1-5 from six overs.
Harry McManus, of Atherton, took 3-27 with nine overs of left-arm spin, including the prize wicket of Matthew Sembill who top scored for North Lancs with a highly impressive 62.
