AFTER last week's column, it was again disappointing to find another league player or official taking to social media to have another dig at the Bolton Cricket League.

This came shortly after another astonishing rant at two of our clubs, mine included, from an ex-Bolton Association player.

I would have hoped everyone would be over it now.

Maybe the easiest thing next year would be for everyone to join one unified league.

I have already seen Hindley St Peter's are moving to the Greater Manchester Cricket League next term and have heard from several sources another club could be going elsewhere.

From a Golborne perspective this week, it was a disappointing loss, though only scoring 129, after a good start, to follow last week's 120. meant another win was perhaps a little optimistic.

Again the failure to bat 50 overs since the first game of the season seems to be an issue, one which I'm sure Tom and the rest of the lads will be working hard to rectify.

Another 40 or 50 runs could have given us a chance of a win.

It was a pleasure again to catch up with Ian Critchley – one of our former professionals – and it was his experience with Majeed that saw the game out after losing three early wickets.

This week it's Kearsley on Saturday for us – I hope you're ready Grant!

Then we are at home to Blackrod in the cup on Sunday before a first trip to Horwich RMI on Monday for a district under-11s game.

Rumours of a call to the new Drink Up Brewery bar are, at present, just that!
