HEATON and Horwich both recorded resounding victories on Sunday as rain hampered another day of cricket in the town.

Of the six fixtures in the Bolton League's 40-Over Competition only two were completed.

Heaton hosted in-form Little Lever who had beaten them by 102 runs the previous weekend.

And revenge was served by batsman Yousaf Anwar who knocked 105 not out as the Lower Pools outfit posted a total of 228-9.

The remaining runs were shared between a consistent batting line-up. Oliver Sutcliffe was the second highest scorer with 22.

In contrast, Little Lever were bowled out for 36 after a shocking display with the bat.

The Victory Road outfit were set a revised score of 177 off 25 overs after rain disrupted the start of the second innings.

Dave Rushton top scored with eight as they succumbed to the bowling attack of Mustafa Bashir (5-14) and Ahmed Matloob (4-14).

Meanwhile, Horwich's deputy professional William Bosisto set them on their way to a comprehensive victory against Darcy Lever.

The 22-year-old Australian knocked 147 off 136 balls – including nine fours and eight sixes. Fellow opener Phil Ingram scored 51 and Liam Bones added 41 late on to post a target of 288-7 inside 35 overs.

Alex Lee was the only bowler of note taking 4-48.

Darcy were set a revised target of 231 off 28 overs but following tight bowling from Ingram (3-7), Bosisto (2-5) and Jack Berry (2-18) they ended with a total of 58-9.

Skipper Jimmy Walsh-Hill top-scored with 18 not out.

Walkden's home tie against Blackrod got started but was soon abandoned with both sides sharing the points.

Professional Aiden Markram scored 29 not out as Walkden ran up a tally of 43-2 but then the rain hit once again.
