BLACKROD beat Sutton by one wicket in the West Lancashire Cricket First Division last weekend.

The visitors to Vicarage Road posted 168-9 from their 40 overs with their captain James York scoring 81 before being caught and bowled by Chris Sanderson who finished with 4-28. Graeme Walsh took 3-17.

Blackrod batted steadily in their reply with Andrew Spibey scoring 42 and Chris Readey 41.

Wickets fell regularly and it was left to Graeme Walsh (17) and Sanderson (seven) to see them home with one wicket to spare, finishing on 171-9 off 37 overs.

In Division Two Westhoughton eased to victory over fellow Bolton League side Bradshaw at the St George's Oval.

Bradshaw posted a low score of 120-7 off their 40 overs. Luke Needham top scored for the visitors with 32 and tight bowling all round by Westhoughton with two wickets apiece for Niall Dunn and Jordan Higham.

The home side never looked in trouble in their reply with captain Glenn Bullock (35) and Matthew Trow (67no) providing the majority of the runs.

Only the bowling of William Morris (3-37) provided an obstacle to the home side who finished on 122 off just 18 overs.
